Woman Pulls Teeth out with Pliers after failing to Find a Dentist to Treat Her

In the News

I felt so sorry for this poor woman after reading the article

Through no fault of her own her teeth had gone rotten and came loose

This was because she contracted pancreatitis which caused her to be sent to ICU for a week due to fluid in her lungs and an abscess, which left her bedridden and hospitalised from July to November 2018.

This led led to extreme malnutrition, causing her weight to plummet to just 5 stone. Then she suffered two cardiac arrests vomiting which resulted in the loss of most of her teeth.

She tried contacting over 100 clinics but none said they could treat her

So she got a pair of pliers and pulled out all her teeth !!

Now she has none and is still receiving no help

I think this is disgusting considering her hospital history

What is happening in this country ??

I recall tying string to a doorpost to get shot of a tooth when young! Only thing worse than a toothache is an earache.I get it.Desperate measures.

MelissaLee1 True M, at least you can extract a tooth, you cannot extract an earache

Sad story this, and just shows how the system is broken, beyond repair..

martinlufc5637 Totally agree as well as the NHS. So many people are self diagnosing and not getting the right treatment.

telmel It hasn’t been too bad for me. I had an appointment over the phone and then a call the same day to arrange and book in my physio sessions for five weeks. I had to say no to the first dates as I am away. That was sorted out really quickly.

eyeballkerry You are lucky E, but i think the biggest problem is trying to enlist to a dentists surgery as a NHS patient , i think most are full and are not taking on any more clients

This is what this woman found , but if you go private there is suddenly an adundance of appointments everywhere

My heart goes out to anyone in this situation and yes our government should be ashamed. I can so understand part of what this woman went through. I remember accidently overdosing (although I didn't come to any harm) on co codamol, whilst rinsing my bad teeth with brandy or whatever else I could find. I even took morphine on one occassion for them - which I might add was rather fun. After a hellish time I saw an emergency dentist to have two removed. I then went to my local hospital to have a further 11 taken out. This was about 10 years ago. I now have titanium four on four implants top and bottom. It was expensive but my friends and family all chipped in to pay for it.

Thats what you call a good family E , those who help you in situations like this

I don't know if you meant 'chipped in ' to be a pun , but it's very apt 😃

Thankfully, I have a really good and reliable NHS dentist but this sadly isn't the case for everyone. She has my sympathies.
